JASON HARN
Jason helps individuals and small businesses solve tax controversies, from IRS and Department of Revenue audits, administrative appeals, and collection matters to litigating on behalf of clients in U.S. District Court and Tax Court. He’ll guide you through the resolution process, serve as a buffer between you and the IRS, and resolve disputes on your behalf. Jason gets you back to your regular life as quickly and with as little stress as possible.
Drawn to become an attorney by his desire to help people in an intellectually challenging way, Jason especially enjoys tax law for its simultaneous rigidity and opportunity for creativity. Jason appreciates the challenge of developing innovative solutions within the complex dimensions of tax provisions.
Jason is particularly skilled at discerning how the various components of a case fit together, understanding the consequences and likely results of each resolution strategy, and developing innovative solutions for his clients. He draws heavily from his prior experience with Colvin + Hallett, where he served as a paralegal for the firm for three years prior to law school. The knowledge and experience gleaned through his prior work with Colvin + Hallett gave him a leg up in the practice and allowed him to make an immediate and impactful contribution to the firm and his clients. Jason also draws from his experience externing with the Washington State Department of Revenue Administrative Review & Hearings Division during law school. His “insider’s view” affords a unique understanding of the government’s rationale and strategy in tax disputes, providing a real advantage for his clients.
In addition to his regular caseload, Jason contributes to the University of Washington’s Federal Tax Clinic, where he offers his services as a volunteer attorney to low-income taxpayers throughout Washington State.
Jason grew up in Texas, but moved to Seattle soon after completing his undergraduate studies. He quickly assimilated to Seattle (although you may still hear a “y’all”), and spends as much time as he can enjoying all that the Pacific Northwest has to offer—even the cold weather—with his two dogs in tow.
